Arrive Paro – Punakha (Approx. 3.5 hours drive)
The flight into Bhutan takes you close to the great Himalayas, offering dazzling scenic views of some of world’s highest glacial peaks. As you enter Paro valley, you will sweep past forested hills with the silvery Paro Chu (Paro River) meandering down the valley below. Paro Dzong (fortress) and Ta Dzong (National Museum) on the hills above the town will be a fine sight. Upon arrival in Paro our tour executive will welcome you at the airport with a signboard and drive you to Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. En-route stop at the Dochu La Pass. Dochu La is a beautiful mountain pass (alt 3,140 m) fluttering prayer flags and a spectacular set of 108 miniature chortens (stupas). On a clear day, you will get awe-inspiring glimpses of the towering Himalayan peaks around. On arrival check in at the hotel.

Punakha - Thimphu (Approx. 2.5 hours drive)
Morning after breakfast, visit Punakha Dzong, set between the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers and home to Bhutan’s religious leader in winter. Walk across the country’s longest suspension bridge over the Pho Chhu, enjoying prayer flags and village shops. Explore Chimi Lhakhang, dedicated to Drukpa Kunley, known for blessings of fertility. Drive to Thimphu, a mix of tradition and modern life. Visit Buddha Dordenma for panoramic valley views, explore local markets and the Craft Bazaar, and end at Tashichho Dzong, the seat of Bhutan’s government.

Full day city tour of Thimphu
Begin your morning with a scenic drive to Dodena, followed by a peaceful hike to Tango Monastery, where you can explore sacred caves and soak in the spiritual atmosphere. After descending, unwind by the Thimphu River near Cheri Zam, enjoying light refreshments in a tranquil setting. In the afternoon, visit the Takin preserve to observe Bhutan’s unique national animal and learn about its cultural significance. Continue to the National Textile Museum, where you can witness traditional weaving techniques and explore Bhutanese textiles and attire. Return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Thimphu – Paro (Approx. 1.5 hours drive)
Morning after breakfast, travel to the base for your hike to Taktsang monastery, commonly referred to as the ‘Tiger’s Nest’. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche miraculously flew here on the back of a tigress, meditated in a cave here for three months and converted the whole of Paro valley to Buddhism. Resting at an altitude of 900m above the valley, Taktsang is an architectural wonder, and the spectacular five-hour walk will be your most overwhelming experience ever. Next, we visit Ta-Dzong (National Museum) The Ta-Dzong was originally the watchtower for the Paro Dzong and stands imposingly on a hillock overlooking the Paro valley.
